STUDIO POLICIES
Punctuality
Lessons start and end exactly at their scheduled times. I can't extend lessons if you're late. If regular tardiness becomes an issue, I reserve the right to offer that lesson time to another student.
24-Hour Cancellation Policy
If you cancel or reschedule a lesson within 24 hours of your scheduled time, you'll be charged a $10 late fee. If you cancel within an hour before your lesson, you'll be charged the full lesson fee. I understand emergencies happen and consider these on a case-by-case basis. I dedicate my time to your booking, so this policy ensures I'm fairly compensated. I appreciate more than 24 hours' notice, as it allows me to offer your slot to another student from my waiting list.
Payment
Payment is made immediately after your lesson via the payment options available in the studio. You'll be sent an invoice upon payment for your records. This flexible approach means there are no contract fees or term-long commitments required; you simply pay as you go for each lesson.
Communications & Privacy
I respect your privacy; your contact information is used only internally and will never be sold or shared. You'll receive a 4-week schedule of your lessons sent to your nominated email, where you'll have the option to reschedule or cancel (please remember the 24-hour cancellation policy). For new students, only your first lesson will be scheduled initially. I'll notify you of other communications using your preferred method. Additionally, I might send periodic studio news and updates, particularly around school holidays and public holidays.
Dog at the Studio
You might spot Henry, my lovely studio dog, during your visit! Henry is a big, friendly, and curious American Bulldog-Johnson who often enjoys sitting behind his fence in the waiting area. He may act excited and curious upon your arrival, and has been known to bark, but please know that he is not in the studio itself. He's always fenced off safely in the hallway during lessons to ensure everyone feels comfortable and secure. While he's very gentle, I completely understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs, especially larger ones, and he can be a little intimidating due to his size. Your comfort is my priority, so please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any concerns.

Absolutely! I'm happy to help you with any self-tapes you need to record. My studios are equipped with ring lights for optimal lighting, ensuring your audition looks professional. Just let me know how I can assist you. To book this service in please book a 90-minute performance coaching lesson - editing of your video will be included in this fee.
Do you only teach professionals or certain age groups?
Not at all! I genuinely love working with anyone who has a passion for singing. While you don't need to be a professional to study with me, I do look for a high standard of vocal dedication and commitment from my students. Many of them are actively pursuing professional careers or are deep into their tertiary training in musical theatre. My goal is to foster vocal growth and a deep understanding of one's vocal instrument. But if my specific approach doesn't quite resonate with what you're looking for, please know that I'm always happy to recommend many other amazing schools and teachers right here in the Ballarat area who might be a perfect fit for your journey.
Why an Assessment for Students Under 12?
For younger vocalists, an initial audition and assessment are crucial before I take them on as students. This isn't about judging talent, but rather about ensuring their safety and optimal progress. During this assessment, I can gain a clear understanding of how well the student comprehends instructions and their current vocal awareness. This helps me ascertain their readiness for formal vocal training, ensuring that I can tailor the approach to their developmental stage. My goal is to guarantee they have the best possible and safest learning experience as they begin their singing journey.
Child Safety Policy
I take the safety and well-being of every child in my studio incredibly seriously. My commitment is to create a secure and nurturing environment where young voices can thrive with absolute peace of mind. To ensure this, I uphold a strict no-contact policy at all times, as I firmly believe that effective vocal teaching never requires physical contact with a student. For complete transparency, all my Working With Children Checks are publicly available. Furthermore, parents are always welcome to audit or sit in on lessons at any time without prior notice.
Performance Opportunities
Yes, providing students with performance opportunities is something I'm truly passionate about! As a new studio, I'm currently actively exploring and developing exciting options for Term Four 2025 and beyond. My goal is to create a supportive and inspiring environment for students to share their progress and shine. Please keep an eye on our communications for updates as these opportunities unfold.
Do you offer exams?
Yes, exams are available upon request through AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board) and Con Brio. I also support students who wish to prepare for and enter competitions and university placement auditions.
